Friendly, patient help for Laguna Woods residents before, during or after the switch to Ting internet and DIRECTV. They connect TVs, phones, computers, printers and tablets, set up and fix the DIRECTV box and app, Smart TVs, Netflix and Prime Video, and streaming devices such as Roku, Apple TV and Fire Stick.

$45 for up to 30 minutes  ·  $60 for up to 1 hourHelpers set their own rates, so the fee can differ with the help you need. Please ask first.

Your remote: what every button does

DIRECTV Gemini Air remote, model RC83V

You do not need all of these. Most people use ON/OFF, the arrows and OK, HOME, GUIDE, VOL, CH, MUTE and the microphone.

ButtonWhat it does
ONTurns the Gemini Air box and the TV on together.
OFFTurns the Gemini Air box and the TV off together.
INPUTSwitches the TV input (HDMI 1, HDMI 2 ...) one by one to choose a connected device.
GUIDEShows the channel guide (TV schedule).
HOME (house)Goes to the main Home screen.
LISTOpens My Library: the shows you recorded on the DVR.
Arrows and OKArrows move up, down, left, right. OK chooses the highlighted item.
RECORD (red dot)Records the show you are watching, or the one chosen in the guide.
EXITCloses a menu or pop-up and goes back to the live channel you were watching.
BACKGoes back one step in a menu.
... (OVERFLOW)Opens more options. While playing a recording or on-demand video, it also stops playback.
VOL (rocker)Push up for louder, pull down for quieter.
CH (rocker)Push up for the next channel, pull down for the previous one.
MUTETurns the sound off. Press again to bring it back.
PREVJumps to the channel (or on-demand video) you watched before.
Microphone (Google Assistant)Hold it down and speak into the remote, for example a channel name. Let go when you finish.
REWINDRewinds, faster with each press (up to 4x). Also used when pairing the remote.
PLAY / PAUSEPauses while playing; plays again when paused.
FAST-FORWARDFast-forwards, faster with each press (up to 4x). Also used when pairing the remote.
0 - 9Type a channel number, or letters in a search box.
DASH ( - )Separates sub-channel numbers such as 7-1. Also used when un-pairing the remote.
APPSOpens your apps (Netflix, YouTube and others). Also used when un-pairing the remote.
